Draftability:

NHL Central Scouting final ranking #138 – North American skaters

Choosing the non-traditional route in Michigan of high school hockey over Tier 1 Elite midget, MacEachern didn’t escape the notice of Michigan State head coach Tom Anastos, or NHL Central Scouting, for that matter.  MacEachern went from unranked in the mid-term CSB rankings to a 138 final ranking.  His lofty ceiling will likely get him drafted even higher than that final ranking.

What they’re saying:

Michigan State head coach Tom Anastos on msuspartans.com:

”Mackenzie has loads of potential. He’s a good skater, sees the ice really well and has an excellent scoring touch. He will have another year to further develop before coming to MSU, and he will play in Chicago of the USHL.”

CHP Take:

MacEachern is another piece in the stockpile of talent Anastos’ is bringing to East Lansing over the next few years.  Pick a skill and he’s got it.  The key for a successful start in ’13 at Michigan State will be the amount of refinement that can be added in the USHL next year.  The ceiling for MacEachern is very high.
